Verse to Ponder 1/27/26 (Luke 23:1-25)

In Luke Chapter 23, Jesus is brought before Pilate by the whole multitude accusing Jesus of perverting the nation, not giving tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King. Pilate said I find no fault in this man and the multitude became the more fierce. Pilate sends Jesus to Herod. King Herod was glad to see Jesus because he wanted to see some miracle done by Him. Jesus did no miracle before him and answered Herod nothing. Herod and his men mocked Jesus and sent Him back to Pilate. Once again Pilate says that neither he nor Herod can find fault in this man concerning those things in which the multitude, chief priests and the rulers accused Jesus of. Pilate decided to chastise Jesus and release Him but the multitude cried out all at once, Away with this Man, and release unto us Barabbas. (A robber and murderer) Pilate tried again to release Jesus but the multitude cried, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate tried a third time, but the loud voices of the multitude and chief priests prevailed, and Pilate gave sentence as they desired and released Barabbas and sent Jesus to be crucified. Thoughts to ponder: 1. Many today still get angry and violent and want laws to do away with Jesus when you mention Him. (Praying in Jesus name before events, public displays, Biblical scenes displaying His birth / death / resurrection, just a few examples) 2. People still try to justify themselves of doing away with Jesus (Pilate washed his hands with water in front of the multitude and said he was innocent of the blood of this just person and told the multitude to see to it – Self justification will not work when we stand before Jesus) 3. Some just want to see a miracle like Herod and if they don’t, they will just mock Him. (I walk by faith not by sight) 4. Some would rather continue in sin (give us Barabbas) than to have the peace, contentment, and joy that Jesus can only truly give. Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Have a Blessed Tuesday my Friends and continue to stand strong in the Lord.
